Summer Ride week of the 4th

          June 28th-July 5th 2025
Gathering Day- Saturday, June 28th.  Gate opens at 8 am.  Will be gathering all day.
Sunday-June 29th- Parade day.   13 miles there and back.
Monday-June 30th- Rose Creek.  13 miles. 
Tuesday-July 1st- Carnes Road.  17 miles.   
Wednesday-July 2nd-  Layover.   
Thursday-July 3rd- Younce Creek.  12 miles 
Friday-July 4th- River Bend Road.  12 miles.
Saturday-July 5th-  Middle Burningtown Road.  11 miles.
Most will pack up and leave Saturaday when the ride comes back into camp.  Everyone must be out by Sunday July 6th at noon.  

​This years' ride will be a mixture of 90% pavement and 10% gravel.  Shoes or other hoof covering on all stock is recommended.   You will be riding in the hills of North carolina.  There will be some hills.  In shape stock is a must.  ​
              BAND PLAYING TUESDAY NIGHT
Shooting Creek Band will be playing for us starting at 8PM.

     LAYOVER DINNER, AUCTION AND RAFFLE
We will have a board dinner layover day (wednesday).  We want to have all food up and on the tables by 6:30 pm.  Everyone is invited.  The board pays for the friend chicken.   Everyone is asked to bring a side dish and come join us.  We are selling tickets for our raffle now and will draw the winners of that after the dinner.  $20/ticket (only selling 200).  1st place 44 Henry Goldenboy, 2nd place a 45 tundra Yeti cooler, 3rd place $200 Tractor Supply gift certificate.  
                                             
                                    AUCTION

We will be having an auction after the dinner and raffle drawing.  We encourage all our participants to bring any of your unwanted tack, equine related items to the auction to donate to help us raise money for the wagon train.

WNC Wagon Train Registration Information 

 Family $50.00: Husband, Wife and Children under 18 years of age 
 Individual $25.00: Individual 18 years of age or  older
 ARM BANDS  (will  be worn on left wrist at all times - NO EXCEPTIONS!)  Arm bands come with the price of admission.   

Coggins:

All Livestock must have a current Negative Coggins Test available upon request.  

Animal Care
Please make sure to water all stock as often as possible to prevent dehydration while on the trail. Also be sure to cool stock first before watering when returning to camp to help prevent colic. The Western North Carolina Wagon Train  Staff will be able to contact a veterinarian if need be. It is recommended that all animals have on shoes as  we will be traveling on  gravel, pavement and   logging roads. 


General:
Hats and T-shirts will be available all week at the check-in desk.  All participants must check in at the registration tent when they get there, and MUST be registered before leaving with the wagon train on any rides.  

Hay, Feed & Water

 Participants are responsible to bring their own hay and feed.   There will be water for stock at this campsite.   If you need water, come to registration tent or find one of your board members and let us know.  

CAMPSITE: 
Campsites will be first come first serve.  No water, sewage or electric hookups available.   Primitive camping only.   Generators are welcomed.  
   
ALCOHOL USE:
We understand that some do and some do not have alcohol on our rides, as well as other rides.  We ask that all alcohol stay covered and kept in your camp.   No alcohol permitted on the trail.  We haven't had a problem with this in several, SEVERAL years.  We want to keep it that way.  WNC wagon train does reserve the right to ask anyone to leave the property if they get out of hand at any time.  

CLOSEST AMENITIES:
Town is approximately 3-5 miles outside of camp.   There is a walmart and other grocery stores in the town of franklin.   Lots of restaurants in town also.
